Tradition meets innovation - harmonica pioneers on the pulse of time

C.A. SEYDEL Söhne was founded in 1847 by Christian August Seydel in Klingenthal, Germany and is today the world's oldest harmonica manufacturer. A variety of well-known artists, but also countless hobby and amateur musicians have found their favorite instruments in our harmonicas.

At the end of the 19th century, SEYDEL developed to one of the most important harmonica manufacturers in the world. Trade relationships extended all the way from Germany to USA and Australia. In the 20th century, an unsteady history followed, which included nationalization in the former GDR and subsequent reprivatization after the reunification of Germany.

Since 2004, SEYDEL has met the challenges of the 21st century with a completely renewed product range. The quality of the instruments was raised to a new level through years of in-house development work and with participation of professional musicians. The use of stainless steel reeds in the top instruments creates another unique selling point in the global market.

Due to the improved tone response, expresssiveness and durability of the stainless steel reeds, SEYDEL was the first harmonica manufacturer to take a new direction and change the image of the harmonica from a disposable item to a proper and fully-fledged musical instrument.

The production is still mainly handmade and exclusively at the original site in Klingenthal. At SEYDEL, tradition and innovation enter into a productive relationship. With the unlimited determination for perfection and the individual production of instruments, the SEYDEL team consistently pushes the development of the harmonica.

In addition to high-quality harmonicas, SEYDEL is also producing the popular TRIOLA since the 1960s, which become very popular as an educational toy and children's first musical instrument.

With the TRIOLA, SEYDEL makes it possible for children as young as kindergarten age to get their first simple and valuable introduction into the world of music. In addition to the pedagogical claim, the fun and motivation of the young musicians is the main aspect of the development and growing up with the TRIOLA.
